Philly has so many talented people in city government and at places like SEPTA and the BCGP, and it’s rough to watch them get beaten down by a political culture that believes that “better” isn’t possible, let alone anything greater.
The streeteries were an opportunity for Philly to become *the* dining capital of America. A city with an al fresco scene to rival Paris or Rome. A magnet for every last New York and DC chef without a trust fund.
And the city threw it away so casually! For parking!!
